Residents violating rule #1 will be expelled immediately from the house. Residents violating rules #2 - 9 will be evaluated by House Manager and at least one board member, and possible expulsion or fines will be given depending on vote of the House and/or Board
Rent (monthly): $440 (eff. 1/1/2023) Rent covers housing and utilities. Commitment of 3 months minimum residency. Expulsion for any reason will result in forfeiture of any rent already paid.
Deposit: $125.00 will be required before you move in and 30-day notice given when moving out. Failure to give notice will forfeit your deposit.
Petty Cash: A monthly contribution of $25 will be due from each resident to cover house essentials, such as cleaning supplies, coffee, etc. Residents are responsible for buying their own household/toiletry items. Please initial your products so there won’t be any confusion as to whom they belong to. You may keep canned and boxed foods together in your own area or in designated area.
Testing for substance use: UA’s and/or breathalyzers will be given randomly to all residents. Refusal to take a test will result in expulsion from the house assuming the resident will come up positive.
Recovery: All residents will be required to attend three meetings of recovery per week. (AA, NA, CMA, GAMBLERS ANONYMOUS, etc., depending on your addiction.) ZOOM meetings will not count toward this requirement unless due to extenuating circumstances and pre-approved by house manager. All residents are required to have an active sponsor and will provide sponsor contact information to the house manager. Board members and house managers are hereby granted permission to contact and communicate with sponsors as deemed necessary. A resident changing sponsors will provide updated contact information to the house manager within 24 hours.
Employment: All residents are required to have a job working 25 - 40 hours per week, or enrolled in school at least half time. Residents have two weeks upon move-in to find employment. If after two weeks, resident still is unemployed, they will be put on probation. They will be required to show they have applied for 3 jobs a day, Saturday and Sunday excluded. If not employed after one month or probation, the Board of Directors will discuss options and the Board make a vote regarding what to do regarding resident.
Disability/Unemployment: Those individuals who are disabled or unemployed must complete 20 hours of community service per week. Unemployed individuals must complete 25 to 40 hours of community service along with submitting applications for employment.
Parole/Probation/Drug Court: Residents who are currently being supervised in any capacity by the Courts will provide complete written contact information for the appropriate representatives or officers of the Court. Board members and house managers are hereby granted permission to contact and communicate with such representatives as deemed necessary. In the case of changes, the resident will provide updated contact information to the house manager within 24 hours.
Medical / Mental Health Conditions: All medical and/or mental health conditions must be disclosed to the house manager and board members, in case of an emergency. HIPAA guidelines will be followed to protect the Resident’s privacy. It is recommended that potentially dangerous conditions be shared with fellow house members, in case of the need for emergency treatment in the absence of the house manager or a Board member. (Examples: diabetes, asthma, heart conditions, etc.)
House upkeep (including bedrooms) is to be kept in a neat and clean manner by residents. Weekly chores will be divided up between residents and changed weekly. House Manager will check randomly, however, entry into bedrooms must be accompanied by another resident or Board Member.
* EMPLOYMENT PAST CURFEW IS ALLOWED AS LONG AS IT HAS BEEN CLEARED IN ADVANCE THROUGH THE HOUSE MANAGER, AND WRITTEN PROOF OF SCHEDULE IS PROVIDED. IF YOU ARE ASKED TO WORK OVERTIME AND IT EXCEEDS CURFEW, YOU MUST CONTACT THE HOUSE MANAGER IMMEDIATELY AND LET THEM KNOW HOW LATE YOU WILL HAVE TO WORK. HOUSE MANAGER HAS THE RIGHT TO REQUIRE VERBAL OR WRITTEN DOCUMENTATION FROM YOUR EMPLOYER.
Overnight stays: After 30 days, successful residents will be allowed to have 2 overnights a week outside of the house. The overnights can be any day of the week. Residents will be required to let the House Manager know where they will be staying and provide a phone number where they can be reached.
Visitors may not be left alone in the house at any time.
Support of Fellow Residents: Residents are required to do one activity with another house member once a week. This does not include Sunday dinner, house meetings, AA/NA meetings, working together, etc. We are hoping that this gives you an opportunity to lean on each other for support and build relationships.
Each Resident is expected to actively engage in the support of sobriety for their fellow residents. This includes treating all residents with kindness and respect, as well as respecting their confidentiality and anonymity. However, if a Resident is aware of any violation of the rules and expectations outlined on this document, this should be reported only to the House Manager or a Board Member for investigation. Failure to do so may result in disciplinary action, including possible expulsion.
Fines: Residents can be issued fines, voted by House Manager and other house members, for rules not followed up to the amount of $25.00.
Expulsion: Being asked to leave for any of the above rules/expectations will forfeit your deposit, as well as any rent already paid for the month. If you are asked to leave, you will have 20 minutes to pack a bag and leave the property. Belongings must be picked up and a Change of Address filed with the Post Office within 30 days. An appointment to pick up belongings must be scheduled with the house manager. After 30 days, any belongings not picked up will become People Investors property to dispose of as we see fit. Any mail received will be marked Return to Sender.
